Swim Assessments

A swim assessment is a 10-minute one-on-one session with an experienced instructor or coach. We offer two types of assessments depending on a swimmer’s age and goals:

Learn-to-Swim Assessments (Ages 4+)

  • Evaluates comfort in the water, basic skills, stroke technique, and water safety

  • Helps you become familiar with our facility and staff

  • Ensures accurate placement into the correct lesson level or class so you progress quickly and confidently

Fitness Assessments (Ages 13+)
Designed specifically for adults and teens who want to start or improve structured swim training. During the session, the coach will test and evaluate:

  • Technique for relevant competitive strokes

  • Current speed and endurance

  • Key training thresholds (aerobic/anaerobic, Critical Swim Speed (CSS), etc.)

  • In-water strength and efficiency

  • Any limitations or areas needing focus

Fitness Assessments allow us to build a personalized training plan with the right intensity zones, workout types, and progression, whether you’re a complete beginner, a returning swimmer, a triathlete, or a masters competitor.
